Looking for a fun table service meal at Disney’s Hollywood Studios that the whole family will actually agree on? This Roundup Rodeo BBQ review covers our recent lunch at the Toy Story Land restaurant, sometimes called Woody’s Roundup BBQ by guests, where our family cooled off, filled up, and laughed our way through one of the most playful dining rooms Disney has ever built. We had a fantastic visit, and after seeing some mixed opinions about this spot online, we want to share exactly what to expect, what it costs, and why we think it deserves a place on your Hollywood Studios plans.
What Is Roundup Rodeo BBQ?
Roundup Rodeo BBQ is the first and only table service restaurant in Toy Story Land, and the first Toy Story table service restaurant anywhere in the world. You will find it just inside the main entrance of the land, on your right past the giant Sheriff Woody statue and before you reach Slinky Dog Dash.
The story behind the restaurant is pure Pixar charm. Andy has taped a few giant cardboard boxes together to build a rodeo arena for his toys, and when you walk through the doors, you shrink down to toy size and become one of Andy’s honorary toys. The dining room is a colorful mashup of western town playsets, train stations, board games, and larger than life displays of Jessie, Trixie, Bo Peep and her sheep, and more. Our kids spent half the meal pointing out details, and honestly, so did we. There is even a giant ruler on the wall that is built to scale with the rest of the room.
One important thing to know before you book: this is not a character dining experience. Woody and Jessie do not come around to the tables. What you do get is a cast of servers who stay fully in character as rodeo hands, plus one of the most delightful running gags at Walt Disney World. Every so often, an announcement warns everyone that Andy is coming, and the entire restaurant freezes like toys until the coast is clear. Our kids thought this was the funniest thing they had ever seen, and watching an entire dining room of adults freeze mid bite never stopped being entertaining.
Our Roundup Rodeo BBQ Lunch Experience
Full disclosure on how our visit came about: we live close enough to the parks that Hollywood Studios day trips are a regular part of our family routine, and we booked a lunch reservation here in the middle of a brutally hot Florida day. Stepping out of the Toy Story Land sun and into that air conditioned rodeo arena might have been worth the price of admission on its own. If you have ever spent a summer afternoon waiting for Slinky Dog Dash, you know exactly what we mean. A long, cool, sit down break in the middle of the day completely reset our crew.
The meal is served family style and is all you care to enjoy, which means platters keep coming to the table and you can request refills of just about anything.
The Cheddar Biscuits Are Worth the Hype
Every meal starts with the Prospector’s Homemade Cheddar Biscuits served with sweet pepper jelly, and these little guys are the real deal. Warm, cheesy, and dangerously easy to fill up on, they were the first thing our table fought over and the first refill we requested. The sweet pepper jelly sounds unusual, but trust us and try it. The sweet and savory combination works.

Salads, Smoked Meats, and That Street Corn
Next come three salads for the table: a tomato salad with cucumbers and pickled red onion, Rex’s romaine and kale salad with green apples and dried cranberries, and a refreshing watermelon salad with fresh mint. On a hot day, the watermelon salad disappeared fast.
The main event is the platter of house smoked meats: smoked ribs, beef brisket, fire grilled pork sausage, and BBQ chicken. The ribs were the star for our family. They came out tender with a nice smoky flavor, and between the kids and the adults, we cleaned the platter and asked for more. A plant based platter called Trixie’s Plant-Based Trio is available too, so vegetarian guests are covered without any special requests.
Then there are the sides, and this is where we need to talk about the Cowpoke Corn on the Cob. This is a grilled street corn seasoned with a chili lime spice blend, cilantro, cotija cheese, and lime juice, and it was one of the best things on the table. It brings a little brightness and kick to a meal that is otherwise rich and smoky, and we would go back for the corn and biscuits alone. The Slinky Dog mac and cheese, topped with crumbled cheddar crackers, was the runaway favorite with our kids, and the baked beans and loaded potato barrels rounded things out nicely.

Save Room for Dessert
Dessert is included, and each guest chooses their own. The Cupcake à la Forky, a chocolate cake with gooey ganache and a little Forky sugar cookie on top, was the table favorite and an instant photo opportunity. The lemon and blueberry cheesecake was a close second and a nice lighter option after all that barbecue. After biscuits, salads, a mountain of smoked meat, and sides, we were not sure we had room for dessert. We found room.
Roundup Rodeo BBQ Pricing: Is It Worth It?
Roundup Rodeo BBQ is a fixed price, all you care to enjoy meal. As of our visit, pricing is $49 per adult and $28 per child ages 3 to 9, plus tax and gratuity, with the same menu and pricing at lunch and dinner. Fountain drinks and iced tea are included, and the restaurant accepts the Disney Dining Plan for one table service credit. Editor’s note: Disney dining prices change frequently, so always confirm current pricing on the My Disney Experience app before you book.
Now, let’s address the elephant in the rodeo arena. This restaurant gets mixed reviews online, and most of the criticism comes from serious barbecue fans. If you grew up on legendary smokehouse barbecue and you walk in expecting competition level brisket, you may leave underwhelmed. This is crowd pleasing backyard style barbecue designed to make an entire family happy, from picky six year olds to hungry teenagers to grandparents.
Judged on those terms, and on value, we think it delivers. Consider what $49 gets you here compared to other Disney World table service meals:
- Unlimited biscuits, salads, smoked meats, and five sides with refills on request
- A dessert for every guest, included in the price
- Included fountain beverages
- Nearly an hour of air conditioning in the hottest, least shaded land at Hollywood Studios
- Themed entertainment that keeps kids engaged the entire meal
Plenty of Disney table service restaurants will run you $49 per adult for a single entree and a drink. Getting a full family style feast at that price point, in a dining room this fun, is one of the better values in the parks right now. Tips for Visiting Roundup Rodeo BBQ
A few practical notes from our visit to help you plan yours:
- Book at your 60 day mark. Reservations open 60 days in advance, and this restaurant books up, especially around midday. That said, same day availability does pop up, so check the app even if you missed the window. Mobile walk up waitlist is available too.
- Aim for the hottest part of the day. Toy Story Land has very little shade. A 12:00 to 2:00 lunch reservation turns the worst stretch of the Florida afternoon into a highlight instead of a slog.
- Arrive hungry. This is a lot of food. We suggest a light breakfast and skipping snacks beforehand so you can do the meal justice.
- Tell your server about favorites early. Refills are happily provided, so if your kids demolish the mac and cheese or you want another round of ribs, just ask.
- Flag any dietary needs when you book. Allergy friendly versions of most items are available, and the plant based platter is a full alternative, not an afterthought.
- Pair it with your Toy Story Land touring plan. A midday reservation works beautifully as a break between morning rides and afternoon shows. Check our park planning guides for how we structure Hollywood Studios days with kids.
Final Verdict: A Rootin’ Tootin’ Good Time
Roundup Rodeo BBQ will not convert barbecue purists, and it does not need to. What it does, it does wonderfully: a generous, tasty, family style feast in one of the most imaginative dining rooms at Walt Disney World, at a price that stacks up favorably against nearly every other table service option on property. Our kids had a blast, the adults ate far too many biscuits, the ribs and street corn earned repeat orders, and we walked back out into the heat rested and happy.
If your family loves Toy Story, needs a midday escape from the sun, or just wants a fun meal where everyone from toddlers to grandparents finds something to love, saddle up and make the reservation. This one gets our full recommendation.
